Velika Planina

Velika Planina is an alpine dairy settlement of herdsman above the Kamniska Bistrca river. Participants will have the unique opportunity to see the shepherds' huts whilst trekking through the beautiful green pastures of the region.

The trek starts in Stahovica and participants will have the opportunity to observe the ravine of Kamniška Bistrica before taking a gondola up to Velika Planina. Here participants can see the traditional huts of the cow shepherds.  The tour will stop for a night to stay in a Domzale mountain hut.

The next day, participants will have the unique opportunity to taste the local dairy products of the herdsman while also observing their traditional style of life in this beautiful environment. The trek will continue over the mountain through verdant pastures to Marjanine njive and Kranjski Rak, where the tour will finish.

Day 1: Strahovica - Velika Planina - Domzale mountain hut

Altitude: Strahovica (434 m), Velika planina (1407 m), Zeleni rob (1612 m), Domzale mountain hut (1534 m)

Day 2: Domzale mountain hut - Marjanine njive - Kranjski Rak

Altitude: Domzale mountain hut (1534 m), Kranjski Rak (1029 m)

Duration: 2 - 3 hours
