Why not drink as the locals do and have the chance to experience the atmosphere of a traditional Istrian wine cellar? Wine-tasting in Ljubljana is certainly something that should never be missed, as winemaking is deep-rooted in Slovenian history.
Winemaking has a long history and tradition in Slovenia, dating back 2400 years ago during the Celtic and Illyrian times. In exception to many other European wine countries, Slovenian viticulture actually existed before Roman influence. Today Slovenia produces on average 23 million gallons of wine per year, however, very little can be found outside Slovenia. However, the well-balanced wine will certainly impress even the most discerning palettes.
The diverse regional climate of Slovenia is
conducive to the production of a range of different types of grapes, and whites, reds and roses can be found. While cozying up next to the central fireplace, guests will have the opportunity to taste the exceptional wines of some of the celebrated producers from the different regions of Slovenia, including Primorska, Posavje, and Podravje.
As a complement to the wine, guests will be served some traditional cold meats of Slovenia, including dried salami.
For those visiting on Wednesday nights, guests can enjoy the traditional tunes of Slovenian music performed by local musicians of Ljubjana.
