Why not step back into time and visit the adorable town of Stanjel, where the cobblestoned alleyways and stone houses have existed since medieval times? Here participants will have the opportunity to wonder through the narrow streets of the village, surrounded by 15th century fortress walls that were built in defense of the Turks. Towering over the settlement, is the beautiful baroque castle, which participants will have a chance to visit before indulging in some of the delicious local Slovenian wines- including Sauvignon, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Muscato, Zelen and Rose.
Next, the tour will head to Vipava Valley, where travelers will have the opportunity to visit the homes of local Slovenian farmers. Here participants can enjoy some of their homemade specialties, such as dried ham (prsut), bread, cheese and of course the flavoursome Slovenian wine while having the opportunity to engage with the farmer and his family.
The visit will be concluded with an interesting tour of the vineyard led by the landowner, where guests can learn about the winemaking process and local farming techniques. Depending on the season, participants may be able to pick the succulent homegrown cherries right off the trees! After everyone has had their fill, the tour will then return to Ljubljana.
